Jan Novák wins the Student Scientific Conference UJEP 2026
Jan Novák, a doctoral student at the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, has achieved a significant success by winning the university final of the Student Scientific Conference UJEP 2026. He thus followed up on his victory in the faculty round and confirmed the high quality of both his research and presentation skills.
The university final took place on 26 March 2026 and featured seven of the best projects from across UJEP faculties. The competition offered a cross-section of current research topics pursued by young scientists from various fields.
Mr. Novák, a doctoral student in the Applied Ion Technologies study programme, focuses his research on the use of ion beams for material modification. His work is carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Nuclear Physics under the supervision of Petr Malinský, Ph.D.
At the conference, Mr. Novák succeeded with a project focused on studying the effect of energetic ion doping on increasing the energy conversion efficiency of photovoltaic cells. The expert panel was impressed not only by the research itself but also by the clear and convincing presentation of the results.
We congratulate Mr. Novák and wish him continued success in his studies and research.
