Master’s Degree Studies
Computer Modelling in Science and Technology
length of study: 2 years
Aims of the Study
The aim of the study is to educate experts in the field of Physics education with a focus on the computer methods used in science and technology who, in addition to the knowledge of general physics, mathematics, programming, numerical and computer methods acquired during the previous bachelor’s study, will also acquire knowledge of important theories of physics, advanced mathematical knowledge, knowledge of procedures in parallel programming, and broad knowledge of computer modelling methods. Graduates will acquire the ability to independently create models describing the examined phenomena, to seek suitable methods to solve them, to implement calculations using specialised high-performance computer technology, and to participate in scientific activity.
Graduate Profile
Graduates are well prepared for the follow-up doctoral study programme in Computer Modelling in Science and Technology, and they can pursue their career in the academic sphere. Outside the academic sphere, graduates find jobs in companies involved in exacting computational problems in technology and other areas, data processing, logistics, programming and software development, in the industry, education and bank sectors.
Applied plasma technologies
length of study: 2 years
Aims of the Study
The aim of the study is to provide students of the master’s study programme in Applied Plasma Technologies with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of application of physical methods, both in deposition of material using plasma or plasma-based material modifications, and in the characterisation of such prepared thin layers and materials. The study programme orientates students towards the area of physics using plasma or charged particles, most frequently ion beams, for the preparation, modification and subsequent characterisation of such prepared materials. Education also focuses on the methodology of measurement and data processing.
Graduate Profile
Graduates are well prepared for the follow-up doctoral study programme in Applied Ion Technologies. Outside the academic sphere, they can also pursue careers in industry, material research, and applications of plasma technologies. Graduates are also acquire the ability to communicate on an interdisciplinary level, which is essential for the transfer of technology into practice.
Physics Teaching for Secondary Schools – two-field study
length of study: 2 years
Aims of the Study
The aim of the study is to acquire a comprehensive theoretical and practical qualification required for the profession of a teacher of general educational subjects at secondary school. The study programme Physics Teaching for Secondary Schools is a double-major study and follows the respective bachelor’s combined study. It focuses on the study of physical disciplines and the curriculum and instruction in physics, and their interconnection to educational and psychological disciplines and teaching practice.
Graduate Profile
Graduates obtain the qualification of a physics teacher at secondary school. The graduate profile is also expanded with other specific professional knowledge and skills, and general competences that also depend on the graduate profile in the associated study programme, which the Physics Teaching for Secondary Schools is combined with.
