Mathematical pendulum

Remote Laboratory Task The mathematical pendulum allows one to measure the pendulum’s period of oscillation for different suspension lengths (range 80 to 163 cm). The period of oscillation is measured by a precision optical shutter. It also allows two possible initial deflections to be set. The deflection is read by a so-called water potentiometer (a needle attached to a sphere passes slightly through the water surface on which a potential gradient is introduced by means of two electrodes). Based on the measured period of oscillation and the length of the suspension, the acceleration g can be determined.
